Republican strategists are raising alarms about President Donald Trump’s political standing as the 2026 midterm elections approach, citing both economic concerns and internal party tensions.

During a CNN appearance, GOP strategist Brad Todd warned that Trump has a narrow window—approximately 30 days—to stabilize his position or risk significant electoral losses for Republicans.

Todd pointed to declining favorability ratings and public backlash tied to Trump’s policies, particularly tariffs and a military conflict with Iran, which have reportedly contributed to rising consumer prices and economic strain for many Americans.In addition to external pressures, Todd emphasized growing discord within the Republican Party itself.

He noted that eight out of 53 Republican senators are currently dissatisfied with the White House, a situation he described as problematic given the need to pass legislation.According to Todd, many of these issues are self-inflicted and could have been avoided with different political decisions or leadership approaches.Dave Urban, another Republican strategist and former senior advisor to Trump’s campaign, echoed these concerns.

He warned that the president is facing “giant problems” that are becoming increasingly difficult to manage, especially as tensions within the party escalate.Urban suggested that internal divisions could further weaken the GOP’s ability to present a unified front ahead of the midterms.

Both strategists stressed the urgency of the situation, highlighting that Trump must focus on repairing relationships within his party and addressing voter concerns if Republicans hope to avoid a poor showing in the upcoming elections.
