Government introduces 50% quota for ex-Agniveers in CAPF and Assam Rifles roles

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced a significant policy change allowing 50% reservation for ex-Agniveers in constable (general duty) and rifleman posts across Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles. This initiative, introduced in response to parliamentary queries, creates a dedicated 'ex-Agniveer' category with specific benefits.

Key provisions include 50% vacancies reserved for ex-Agniveers, a three-year relaxation in upper age limits, and an additional five-year age relaxation for first-batch candidates.Ex-Agniveers will also bypass physical tests and written exams for these roles. The MHA has established a specialized wing to coordinate further progress for ex-Agniveers.This comes after the CRPF amended its recruitment rules in 2025 to increase ex-Agniveer quotas from 10% to 50%.

The policy aims to provide career opportunities for former Agniveers who have completed their four-year tenure, ensuring they can transition into permanent security roles. The move reflects the government's effort to streamline recruitment and recognize the contributions of ex-military personnel.
