Gospel singer Grace Mwai has officially announced that her relationship with her partner, Hiram Mwangi, popularly known as Kamuhunjia, has come to an end.
In a public statement shared on Sunday, May 31, Grace confirmed that the two have parted ways after what she described as a journey filled with mutual respect and understanding.
The announcement comes after several years of the couple being in the public eye, where their relationship had attracted both admiration and criticism from fans and online commentators.
The couple first met in 2018 while working in the media industry, where Kamuhunjia revealed he had once produced a show that Grace featured in at Inooro TV.Over time, their friendship developed into a romantic relationship, eventually leading to an engagement in 2022 when Kamuhunjia proposed to Grace.Their relationship, however, was often subjected to public scrutiny, including discussions about their age difference and social media criticism.Despite addressing these issues publicly and defending their relationship, pressure from fans remained a constant backdrop.
In her statement, Grace Mwai said that although their marriage has ended, they remain grateful for the time they shared and the love they experienced together. She emphasised that both parties handled the separation maturely and with dignity, choosing peace and mutual respect as they move forward separately.Kamuhunjia had also previously defended their relationship, asking Kenyans to respect their personal choices.
The couple now joins the growing list of public figures whose relationships have ended under public attention, while both continue with their individual lives and careers.
