On May 5, 1965, the Grateful Dead, originally performing under the name The Warlocks, played their very first show at Magoo’s Pizza in Menlo Park, California.After discovering that another band already had the name, they later adopted the iconic name 'Grateful Dead' in December of that year.The original lineup featured Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann.
