Gujarat ATS arrests eight in Jaish-e-Mohammed terror conspiracy case

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested eight individuals, including seven from Gujarat and one from Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly conspiring to establish a network of the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and carry out terrorist activities in the state.

The suspects were reportedly working to create an active JeM network, recruit members, and spread the group's ideology through radicalization efforts across India.

They formed an organization called 'Darul Islam Gujarat Jaish-e-Mohammed' and communicated with Pakistan-based handlers identified as Abdullah and Mohammad Umar.The ATS alleges that the accused translated JeM literature into Gujarati, received ₹3 lakh for the conspiracy, and used funds to purchase a car.During searches, authorities recovered 254 digital files, including jihadi materials, a JeM flag, and books authored by Masood Azhar.The arrests were made under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.The suspects are associated with madrasas linked to extremist ideologies, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the region.
