Lewis Hamilton has expressed renewed optimism after securing second place at the Canadian Grand Prix, marking his strongest result yet while driving for Ferrari.

The seven-time Formula One world champion managed to overtake Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the closing stages of the race at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, earning his second podium of the season following his earlier result in China.

Hamilton explained that a revised approach to car setup, developed through detailed analysis of data and closer collaboration with his race engineer, played a key role in unlocking improved performance.

He noted that choosing a different setup direction allowed him to attack corners more confidently, something he had struggled with earlier in the season.

He also praised Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur for his strong backing in implementing requested changes aimed at improving driver comfort and overall competitiveness.According to Hamilton, these behind-the-scenes adjustments have been crucial in helping him adapt more effectively to the Ferrari package.He further acknowledged the contribution of the engineering team, including Cedric Santi, who has been working in a key support role this season.The result is particularly significant given Ferrari’s historical difficulties on circuits like Montreal, which demand strong straight-line speed.

Despite bringing upgrades earlier in the season and facing rivals such as Mercedes introducing further improvements in Canada, Ferrari managed to remain competitive.
