Hank Azaria criticises celebrity ticket privileges after Taylor Swift’s courtside appearance at NBA Finals game

Actor Hank Azaria has expressed frustration over Taylor Swift receiving courtside seats at a recent NBA Finals game involving the New York Knicks.Speaking on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Azaria said he was not questioning why Swift was given premium seating, but rather that he was tired of seeing the singer prominently featured at major sporting events.

He described the ongoing attention surrounding Swift’s appearances at sports fixtures as excessive and said her courtside placement at Madison Square Garden bothered him.Azaria used the situation to highlight what he sees as an uneven system for celebrity access to high-demand NBA games.

According to him, only a small number of top-tier celebrities are guaranteed the best seats, while many other well-known figures must wait until the day of the game to learn whether they can attend and where they will be seated. He cited personalities such as Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan and Spike Lee as examples of celebrities with more consistent access.

The actor explained that he was unable to attend one Finals game but secured a seat for Game Four, although his location was in the upper-level Cisco Suites rather than near the court. He noted that other celebrities, including Questlove, Rainn Wilson and Jeremy Strong, were also seated away from the spotlight.

Azaria argued that television broadcasts mainly show the most famous guests courtside, while many other celebrity attendees are dispersed throughout the arena. The comments came during a particularly eventful week for Swift.

In addition to attending the NBA Finals with friends including Alana and Este Haim and Mariska Hargitay, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and released a new song for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.
