A 55-year-old farmer, Joseph Otieno Omogo, was murdered by his son in Ng’ope Village on Saturday, July 25, 2026.The attack occurred during a morning ambush in Ndhiwa Sub-County, leaving Omogo’s colleague critically injured.Both victims were walking to their farm when they were ambushed by the suspect, who used a machete.Preliminary investigations by Konyango Sub-Location Assistant Chief Gabriel Nyatame revealed ongoing family disputes as the root cause.The son had previously threatened his father’s life, and the matter had been addressed at the village level and in court before.The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack and remains at large.Authorities have launched a manhunt, with police appealing to the public for information.The injured colleague was rushed to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, while Omogo’s body was moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem.Local leaders urged residents to avoid vigilantism and report any leads to the police.
