The decision is influenced by political pressures, particularly following Khan's pursuit of arrest warrants for Israeli officials, which has drawn criticism from the US.France and the Netherlands, which host the ICC in The Hague, have indicated support for his dismissal.The vote requires an absolute majority of at least 63 of the 125 member states.

Khan's accuser, a junior ICC staffer, has publicly repeated allegations of a nonconsensual sexual relationship, while Khan's legal team denies any such relationship.

The outcome could weaken the ICC's position and provide critics with further ammunition against the court, established in 2002 to prosecute war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity.
