Indian environmentalist and former Bollywood film inspiration Sonam Wangchuk has joined a nationwide protest against alleged irregularities in India's higher education examinations.

The hunger strike, led by the satirical Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), demands accountability for exam leaks that caused the cancellation of a national medical entrance test affecting 2.3 million candidates.Wangchuk, 59, has been hospitalised due to deteriorating health after losing over 8.4kg during his fast.

Protesters are calling for the resignation of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and reforms to prevent student suicides linked to examination stress.The movement gained traction through social media, with CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke amassing 22 million followers on Instagram.Wangchuk's participation has amplified the protest, drawing support from politicians and academics across India.Despite government assurances of a fair re-test, organisers plan a march to parliament on 20 July if demands remain unmet.
