US-Iran conflict escalates as airstrikes and retaliatory attacks disrupt Strait of Hormuz
Israeli military strikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least six people, including a nine-year-old girl, according to Palestinian health officials.The attacks occurred on Sunday, targeting a tent encampment in Al-Bureij refugee camp and a metal foundry in Gaza City’s Sabra neighbourhood.
Medics reported that Israeli gunfire killed 9-year-old Tala Abu Matar in the eastern side of Al-Bureij, while an air-strike at a foundry killed four individuals.Witnesses claimed three missiles hit the foundry, though Israel’s military stated it targeted 'terrorist' infrastructure.Separately, Israeli forces reportedly killed two Hamas fighters in northern Gaza.Another strike in Khan Younis injured several children and others.The ceasefire agreement brokered in October 2025 has failed to prevent attacks that have killed over 1,000 Palestinians since its implementation.Hamas leaders are currently in Cairo for talks on implementing a U.S.-backed peace plan, but no breakthroughs have been announced.Over 73,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.The ongoing conflict continues to displace millions, with most residents living in makeshift shelters under Hamas control.
