The Johannesburg High Court has ordered weekend family visits for Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala and two co-accused in a high-profile murder trial, following legal arguments that their prolonged isolation during court proceedings was detrimental.

The ruling comes after lawyers for the accused highlighted that the trial's demanding schedule had prevented them from seeing loved ones for an entire week.

Judge Cassim Moosa directed correctional services to facilitate Saturday visits, subject to departmental rules, amid a trial already marked by allegations of attempted murder, organized crime, and courtroom tensions.The case involves five accused, including Matlala's wife and a music producer, who face 25 charges, including 11 attempted murders.
