Abba Kabir Yusuf, governor of Kano State, has been honored with the International Literacy and Learning Leadership Award for his education reforms.The award, presented by Universal Learning Solutions (ULS) in London, recognizes Kano's commitment to allocating 30% of its budget to education, one of the highest in Nigeria.Muhammadu Sanusi II, representing Yusuf, praised the reforms as a key driver for social transformation.The ceremony, held at the Stationers’ Hall, attracted education experts and policymakers from across Africa.

Sanusi highlighted the potential of integrating Almajiri children into structured literacy programs, combining Arabic Qur’anic education with English skills.ULS praised Yusuf's focus on education and human capital, pledging continued support for initiatives like Jolly Phonics.The recognition reinforces Kano's ambition to lead education reform in Africa.
