The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has warned that parts of Karachi may experience a temporary water supply disruption following a power breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station.The incident, which occurred on Sunday at 8:45am, affected the third phase of the station due to a cable fault.

KWSC spokespersons stated that three pumps were temporarily shut down, leading to an estimated daily shortfall of 75 million gallons in the city's water supply.Affected areas include North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, New Karachi, and others.KWSC is working with K-Electric to restore power and resume operations.The incident highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining reliable water supply infrastructure in Karachi.

Additionally, the Sindh cabinet recently approved a 40% cost increase for a dedicated water line to supply water to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) from Dumlotee.This comes after a previous power outage at the K-2 Pumping Station caused similar disruptions.

The situation underscores the critical dependency of Karachi's water systems on uninterrupted electricity and the need for infrastructure improvements to prevent future crises.
