Police rescue 9 passengers after repelling bandit attack on Jos-Kano highway, 13 abducted
Joint security forces in Katsina State successfully repelled a large-scale bandit attack on Guga Village in Bakori Local Government Area, killing more than 40 armed attackers and eliminating several top commanders.
The operation, led by local hunters and the Community Watch Corps, was launched after intelligence revealed plans by notorious bandits led by Idi Abasu Aiki to disrupt community defenses.The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, involved over 200 heavily armed bandits supported by members of the Ado Aleru group from Zamfara State.Security operatives swiftly responded, engaging in a fierce gunfight that forced the attackers to retreat with heavy losses.While the operation resulted in the deaths of 40+ bandits and eight senior commanders, five Hunters team members were also killed during the clash.The state government expressed condolences to the families of the fallen while reaffirming its commitment to collaborative security efforts.This follows a previous successful operation in Dawan Laila Village earlier this month, where the same criminal network suffered significant losses.Authorities are now conducting clearance operations to recover abandoned weapons and intensifying surveillance to prevent further attacks.
