Former news anchor Ken Mijungu has sparked wide public debate after defending President William Ruto's administration during a podcast interview with comedian and media personality Dr Ofweneke.

Speaking candidly, Mijungu argued that despite the heavy criticism directed at the government, President Ruto has made a genuine effort to implement his agenda.He maintained that if Kenyans assessed the government's work without political bias, they would acknowledge that some progress has been made.Mijungu repeatedly stated that 'Ruto has tried' and described the president as someone pushing himself to deliver on his promises.

To counter claims that he was speaking out of self-interest, Mijungu clarified that he is currently unemployed, pursuing his studies, and has never received money or any other benefit from the government.He insisted that nobody in government could claim to have paid him even a single cent.

Addressing corruption allegations, he said that misuse of public funds has been a longstanding issue in Kenya and did not begin with the current administration.However, he was careful to note that he was not defending or excusing corruption.Instead, he encouraged people to consider the government's overall record before making a judgement.Mijungu also described Ruto as an idea that emerged and was implemented at the right moment in Kenya's political landscape.His remarks quickly spread across social media, attracting mixed reactions.

While some Kenyans agreed with his assessment and praised him for expressing an unpopular opinion, others criticised him, arguing that delivering on campaign promises is the government's responsibility and not something deserving special praise.
