Caleb Amisi Warns Irungu Kang'ata Against Taking Over Linda Mwananchi Movement
The Wantam Movement has launched an online voting platform allowing Kenyans to select their preferred opposition presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election. The initiative features 16 prominent political figures, with the process divided into two phases. The first phase will narrow down the field to five candidates, followed by a public debate where finalists will present their vision for Kenya.Supporters will then cast their final vote to determine the movement's preferred candidate and running mate. The digital vote will open on July 25 and close on July 26, with live results displayed to ensure transparency.
Movement leaders emphasize that this process aims to empower ordinary Kenyans rather than political elites, framing the 2027 election as a contest between citizens and Ruto.
The platform is designed to include both local and diaspora voters, with the goal of uniting opposition supporters behind a single candidate capable of mounting a strong challenge against Ruto.
The movement's Advisory Committee Chairperson, Francis Masinde, highlighted the importance of public participation in shaping the opposition's strategy for the upcoming election.
