A 42-year-old man, Syengo Kimwele, from Kitui County, died under mysterious circumstances while seeking help from a well-known witchdoctor to lift a curse reportedly linked to an extramarital affair.

Kimwele had allegedly been involved with his neighbour's wife and was said to have been given a seven-day ultimatum to make amends, which he ignored.

The day before his death, he visited Tseikuru Level IV Hospital, but medical staff suggested he resolve the matter with those affected, as his condition appeared unusual and beyond conventional treatment.Desperate, he went to Nthiga Kikunda, a witchdoctor in Kaiveria Location, Tseikuru Sub-County.Upon police arrival, his body was found with severely swollen genitalia, which locals associated with the alleged curse.The body was moved to Kyuso Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Tseikuru is handling the inquiry, and no arrests have been made yet.The case has drawn attention to how traditional beliefs and medical limitations intersect in rural Kenya.
