Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly endorsed Peter Obi's commitment to serve only one four-year term if elected president in 2027.

During an interview on News Central’s 60 Minutes, Kwankwaso emphasized his trust in Obi, noting that the former Anambra governor made the pledge publicly.

He argued that the coalition’s power-sharing agreement is based on mutual trust and a plan to rotate political power, allowing the southern region to complete an eight-year cycle before transitioning.

Kwankwaso stressed that Obi’s one-term pledge is part of a broader governance roadmap developed by the coalition, which includes short-, medium-, and long-term plans for Nigeria.The alliance aims to ensure continuity of policies beyond any individual president’s term, focusing on building a sustainable governance framework.Kwankwaso also highlighted the coalition’s priority of maintaining commitment to the agreed agenda regardless of political affiliations.This move underscores the NDC’s strategy to balance regional interests and long-term national development.
