Ntuzuma court hands down life plus 45-year sentence to KwaZulu-Natal man for multiple murders and attempted murder
A 34-year-old man from KwaZulu-Natal is facing fraud charges after allegedly submitting a counterfeit proof of payment for a Range Rover Sport worth over R3.29 million.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, known as the Hawks, confirmed that the suspect was served with a summons by the Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit on 26 May 2026.He is set to appear in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on 10 June 2026.
The alleged incident dates back to 1 June 2023, when the suspect approached a sales representative at Land Rover Hillcrest, offering to pay cash for the luxury vehicle.
The suspect reportedly provided a fraudulent proof of payment from Investec Bank claiming an immediate transfer and requested that the vehicle be delivered without verification.The dealership, however, refused to release the vehicle until the funds were confirmed.Subsequent checks revealed that no payment had been made and the proof of payment was fake.Following a formal complaint and thorough investigation, the Hawks have now formally charged the suspect.KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Acting Provincial Head Brigadier Zenobia Mulligan praised the investigative team for their diligent work.The case will proceed through the criminal justice system as the suspect awaits his court appearance next month.
