LANXESS Launches Local Production of Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids in India

LANXESS, a German specialty chemicals company, announced plans to commence local production of fire-resistant hydraulic fluids (FRHF) at its Jhagadia site in India. This move is part of its global growth strategy to serve India, West Asia, and international markets.

Fire-resistant hydraulic fluids are engineered to withstand ignition from extreme heat, sparks, or open flames, making them critical for high-risk industrial applications like die-casting, mining, and steel manufacturing.Currently, these fluids are primarily imported, but LANXESS aims to address this by establishing local production.

The company emphasized India's growing importance due to investments in energy infrastructure and the expansion of energy-intensive sectors such as data centers and AI technologies.Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice-President of LANXESS, highlighted that local production strengthens customer proximity and supply reliability. The initiative complements recent investments like the Application Development Centre in Thane, which provides technical support.

This strategy positions LANXESS as a leading local supplier in the region, ensuring operational reliability and safety in critical industrial environments.
