Linda Mwananchi, a political movement backing Edwin Sifuna for Kenya's 2027 presidential race, has raised over KSh 2.2 million in just 36 hours through a public fundraising campaign.

The funds, collected via a mobile money channel, will support voter mobilization, civic education, and citizen verification efforts across the country.

The movement, which positions itself as a third force challenging President William Ruto, has gained traction as it prepares for the 2027 general election.The fundraising milestone, announced on July 22, highlights growing public support for the group's agenda.

However, the movement faces challenges, including accusations that President Ruto's administration has blocked its attempt to register as a political party.

Spokesperson Caroli Omondi warned that the group will fight to protect its identity, drawing parallels to past resistance against authoritarian regimes.

The campaign's success underscores the increasing role of grassroots mobilization in Kenyan politics, as opposition factions seek to challenge the ruling party's dominance ahead of the 2027 elections.
