A landslip near the KSRTC bus stand in Madikeri has prompted authorities to divert all vehicles exiting from private and KSRTC bus stands through Raja’s seat road.This measure aims to manage traffic congestion caused by increased vehicle numbers and parking near the popular tourist spot.

The Deputy Commissioner issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, banning public entry to Raja’s Seat from July 9 to 12.

The decision follows concerns about traffic disruptions, safety for schoolchildren, and environmental pressures due to heavy rains and strong winds in Kodagu district.Scientists and environmentalists warn that landslides will persist without accountability measures.The ban is a precautionary step to ensure public safety during the peak tourist season.

Authorities emphasize that the closure is temporary and part of broader efforts to mitigate risks associated with the landslide and its impact on local infrastructure.
