A 53-year-old farmer, Haolal Singsit, was killed by unidentified armed individuals suspected to be from an armed Naga group in Manipur's Govanjang village on Saturday.The incident occurred around 5:30 pm while he was working in a paddy field with his wife.His wife escaped the scene, but Haolal succumbed to multiple bullet injuries.Police recovered his body and shifted it to Kangpokpi district hospital.A case has been registered for further investigation.The attack follows escalating ethnic tensions in Manipur, including a twin ambush on May 13 that killed four people, including three church leaders.Retaliatory clashes between Naga and Kuki-Zo groups led to abductions and subsequent exchanges of hostages.
