The McMichael Canadian Art Collection, located in Kleinburg, Ontario, will close its doors next week for a comprehensive three-year renovation and expansion project.

The gallery, home to one of Canada's largest collections of artwork by iconic artists such as Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, will see a $150-million redevelopment that includes adding 60% more space for exhibitions, education, conservation, and public programming.

The project, which maintains the original low roofline and timber-and-stone construction of the 1965 donated property, will also modernize facilities while keeping much of the collection accessible through national and international tours.Funding comes from provincial ($50M), federal ($25M), and private ($50M) sources.The closure marks the largest addition to the gallery in 40 years, aiming to enhance visitor experiences and preserve Canada's artistic heritage.
