A Blue Mountains micro-bakery's sweet success
The Israeli street-food chain Miznon has announced the closure of its Melbourne CBD branch, marking the end of an almost 10-year chapter for the city's only remaining location. The decision comes after the Collingwood site closed in May and following attacks on the Hardware Lane outlet last July.
The restaurant, which opened in 2017 as part of a hospitality group co-owned by Israeli businessman Shahar Segal, will serve its final meals on July 11.A social media post from @miznonmelbourne confirmed the closure, stating: "After an unforgettable journey, it’s time for us to say goodbye. As they say, all good things come to an end, and this Saturday [July 11] will be our final day at Miznon Melbourne.
" The closure reflects broader challenges faced by international eateries in Melbourne, with the restaurant's owners citing a combination of operational pressures and community events as factors.
While the exact reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed, the announcement underscores the vulnerability of niche culinary ventures in competitive urban markets. The move also highlights the impact of recent security incidents on business operations, as the Hardware Lane location had previously been targeted.
Despite the closure, the brand's legacy in Melbourne's dining scene will be remembered for its contribution to the city's diverse food landscape.
