Trump claims Iran has agreed to halt nuclear weapons development amid ongoing negotiations
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has sharply criticised the United States, accusing it of interfering in Mexico’s internal politics following the indictment of ten Mexican officials, including Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, by the U.S.Department of Justice on alleged drug trafficking charges.Speaking at a rally in Mexico City, Sheinbaum framed this legal action as part of an intensified effort by U.S.authorities and far-right groups to destabilize her government, particularly following the deaths of two CIA agents in April.
Sheinbaum emphasised that while Mexico remains committed to cooperation on security and anti-drug trafficking initiatives, it will not tolerate foreign influence in determining the guilt of Mexican officials. She stressed that external pressure on Mexico’s institutions crosses the line from cooperation into interference. This case represents the first time a U.S.authority has requested the arrest and extradition of a sitting Mexican official, heightening tensions between the two countries.
Mexican authorities assert that compelling evidence has not been provided, and several of the indicted officials have already testified before prosecutors in Mexico.
Sheinbaum urged citizens to challenge foreign interference and underscored that decisions about Mexican governance should rest with Mexicans, not foreign entities.
