India's Government Announces Major Policy Reforms for Sustainable Development
Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu reviewed passenger facilities, security arrangements, and immigration systems at major airports.
The meeting, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Civil Aviation, outlined measures to improve passenger flow and convenience.Key directives included the phased installation of Automated X-ray Tray Return Systems (ATRS) at all airports to reduce human resource costs.
A comprehensive framework was mandated to ensure seamless movement through entry lanes, check-in counters, security screening, and immigration counters.Development priorities were set for 62 airports, with completion targets within two years.
The government also directed the expansion of baggage drop facilities to high-traffic international airports and mandated third-party studies during peak travel seasons to minimize delays.Educational qualifications for CISF personnel at X-ray screening were standardized, and Fast Track Immigration programs were promoted.
FRRO offices were to be operationalized at state headquarters by next year, and authorized immigration checkpoints at Agartala and Noida airports were to be activated promptly.These measures aim to enhance passenger convenience while maintaining security and operational norms.
