Halifax Regional Police have confirmed that a missing newborn baby has been found deceased following a search that ended in a wooded area in Nova Scotia.The discovery was made on Sunday afternoon, when officers acting on new information were directed to the Prospect Road area and nearby surroundings.At approximately 3:20 p.m., human infant remains were located off Old Coach Road in a wooded section.Authorities have stated that the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation began on Friday evening when police were called to a report involving a woman in life-threatening medical distress who had recently given birth.She was transported to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.Police indicated that her medical situation is believed to be the result of a medical emergency and not linked to violence.Following initial inquiries, four individuals known to the woman were taken into custody for questioning on Saturday.Two of those individuals were later released without charges, while the remaining two have now been formally charged in connection with the case.

A 23-year-old man, identified as a relative of the woman, and his 26-year-old wife are facing charges including concealing the body of a child, obstruction of justice, and indignity to human remains.Both are scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday.Police have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.Authorities have not released further details about the timeline or events leading up to the discovery.
