The mother of Henry Nowak's murderer, Kiran Kaur, has been sentenced to three years in prison for removing the murder weapon from the crime scene.

The 53-year-old woman, who is the mother of 21-year-old convicted killer Vickram Digwa, was found guilty of assisting an offender by hiding the knife used to stab Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old student, during a violent attack in Southampton on 3 December 2026.Judge William Mousley KC emphasized that Kaur's actions were 'criminally negligent' and aimed at shielding her son from prosecution.The court heard that the knife was discovered seven days after the incident at their family home, alongside over 20 other weapons.

Prosecutor Nicholas Lobbenberg described Kaur's role as 'crucial' in concealing evidence, while her defense argued it was a spontaneous act to protect her child.

The case has sparked controversy over police handling of Henry Nowak's death, with bodycam footage showing officers allegedly mistreating the victim before his fatal injuries.Protests erupted following the release of the footage, leading to multiple arrests and investigations into police misconduct.Digwa, his brother, and father face further charges related to weapon possession.A full inquest into Henry's death is scheduled for next year.
