Sardar Tanveer Ilyas joins IPP after leaving PPP amid ticket dispute in AJK politics
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has issued a warning that it may call for a protest if the federal government does not ensure the implementation of an 18-point agreement signed with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in 2022.
The agreement, signed on March 30, 2022, addressed key provincial issues in Sindh, including municipal governance, power-sharing formulas, recruitment policies, and local policing systems.
MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar emphasized that none of the 18 points in the pact have been implemented, despite repeated reminders to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.
Sattar accused the PPP of ignoring Supreme Court directives on local government reforms and called on the federal government, particularly Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to intervene. The MQM-P leader also demanded a referendum under Article 149 of the Constitution and the abolition of the quota system for government jobs.
The party criticized the PPP-led Sindh government for its administration of Karachi and reiterated its demand for the city to be declared a federal territory.
The warning comes amid ongoing tensions between the MQM-P and the PPP, with the MQM-P accusing the PPP of failing to address public grievances and calling for federal intervention to prevent a potential protest movement.
