A major fire has completely destroyed a multi-storey home in Yarralumla, located in Canberra's inner south.Emergency services were called to the scene on Schomburgk Street around 7:29pm on Friday, July 10, after residents reported flames reaching up to the trees.Firefighters arrived to find the property already well alight and deemed it unsafe for entry, requiring them to combat the blaze from the exterior.Three fire trucks and an aerial pumping appliance were deployed, with crews working until approximately 8:33pm to extinguish the fire.The roof of the home caved in, and smoke continued to emanate from within.Firefighters inspected the damage while wearing masks and using clean air tanks, with around 24 personnel and an ambulance remaining at the scene.

A neighbour described the incident as a 'full-on' blaze, noting that a witness alerted residents by thumping doors after spotting the fire from 500 metres away.No injuries were reported, and all occupants were accounted for.An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.The event highlights the challenges faced by emergency services in tackling intense residential fires.
