Murang'a Police Search for Student Who Went Missing After School Expulsion

Police in Murang'a County are investigating the disappearance of a secondary school student who went missing shortly after being sent home from school over alleged violations of the school's dress code.According to the report, the 16-year-old student returned to St.

Charles Lwanga High School after the midterm break on 30 June 2025 but was expelled the following morning because she was allegedly wearing a short skirt and had dyed her hair. She has not been seen since leaving the school.

Her mother said she had requested the school to wait until she could attend a meeting with the administration before any disciplinary action was taken. However, the message reportedly reached the school after the student had already been dismissed. The family argues that the school failed to follow proper procedure by allowing a minor to leave without being handed over to a parent or guardian.

Murang'a County Police confirmed that detectives questioned a man believed to have recently communicated with the student, but the interview did not reveal her whereabouts.

Officers have also searched hospitals and mortuaries without success and have expanded investigations to neighbouring counties and major transport routes.

The student's mother has appealed to members of the public to share any information that could help locate her, expressing hope that her daughter is safe and will return home. The incident has also raised concerns about student safety and the responsibilities schools have when disciplining minors.
