Pembroke House School supports Utumishi Girls fire victims with free food and relief aid
A 31-year-old Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teacher, Mercy Nyaboke, has been reported missing after she disappeared while heading to her new job in Nakuru County.
According to her family, Mercy left her home in the Kiamunyi area at around 6:20am on 4 May 2026, intending to walk to her new workplace for her first day after recently leaving a job in Kiambu due to health-related reasons. Her mother, Maureen Kandie, said Mercy appeared well and motivated on the morning she left and they had agreed to meet later in the evening. However, by 8:30am, the school headteacher contacted the family asking about her whereabouts, as she had not arrived at work.Attempts to reach her on both of her mobile numbers were unsuccessful. After 48 hours, the family reported the matter to police and later to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).Investigators tracked her phone, which was initially switched off in the Olive Inn area of Nakuru before later showing activity in Eldoret on 5 May.Further investigations revealed that she had made an M-Pesa transfer to a boda boda rider using an Airtel line not known to her family.
The rider later told authorities he had only transported her within town and claimed to have seen her again the following day looking confused at a stage. The family describes Mercy as active in church and well-known in her neighbourhood for tutoring children. As investigations continue, they have appealed to the public for any information that could help locate her safe return.
