The 2026 NBC Dodoma Marathon, held at Jamhuri Stadium, raised Sh1 billion for critical healthcare programs targeting maternal and child health, congenital heart surgeries, and bone marrow transplants for sickle cell patients.

Tanzanian Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba joined over 13,000 runners, emphasizing the event's role in promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles.The funds will support three key initiatives: reducing maternal mortality, financing heart surgeries, and expanding transplant services.The marathon, now in its seventh edition, has grown from 1,500 to 13,000 participants, reflecting Tanzania's growing sports culture.

NBC Managing Director Theobald Sabi allocated Sh600 million to medical institutions, with Sh200 million distributed to the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation, Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, and Benjamin Mkapa Hospital.Kenyan athletes dominated race results, with Edwin Koech winning the men's full marathon and Agnes Ngolo leading the women's category.The event also boosted Dodoma's economy through tourism and local business engagement.
