National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag testified during Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, stressing that his statements were guided by evidence and the rule of law.He emphasized the importance of truth and justice in legal proceedings, stating that the testimony aimed to uphold law and order.

Matibag addressed criticisms regarding his testimony, explaining that the official records he presented are exceptions to the hearsay rule due to his role as custodian of these documents.

The testimony focused on Article IV of the impeachment case, which accuses Duterte of culpable violation of the Constitution, high crimes, and betraying public trust linked to her alleged threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Additionally, Matibag mentioned ongoing investigations into substandard metal bars found in Pampanga, which were used in a collapsed building in Angeles City.He noted that a more detailed report on this matter will be released later.
