Peter Obi Nominates Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as Running Mate After Securing NDC Presidential Ticket for 2027
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially ratified former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as its flag bearer for the 2027 general elections following nationwide primary elections conducted on Saturday across the country.
Obi emerged as the party’s presidential candidate after being affirmed as the sole aspirant for the ticket, making his selection unanimous during the exercise.The primaries also formed part of a wider process by the party to select candidates for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the event, the NDC formally presented its party flag to Peter Obi, symbolising his confirmation as the party’s standard bearer for the presidential race.
Key political figures were present at the ceremony, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who is expected to serve as the party’s vice-presidential candidate, as well as National Leader Seriake Dickson and the National Chairman Cleopas Zuwoghe.Party members, supporters, and stakeholders also attended the event in large numbers to witness the ratification process.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were equally present, ensuring that the exercise complied with the requirements of the Electoral Act.
The development marks a significant step in the NDC’s preparation for the 2027 general elections, as the party moves to consolidate its leadership structure and electoral strategy.
