Family mourns missing gospel singer after 26 years
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant drug seizures across Nigeria, highlighting its ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking.
A 67-year-old Nigerian-British woman was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport after 13 kilograms of cocaine was discovered hidden inside fake plantain peels among food items in her luggage.The suspect, a caregiver based in the UK, was apprehended while attempting to board a Virgin Atlantic flight to London.During interrogation, she admitted ownership of the illicit consignment.
In Taraba State, NDLEA operatives dismantled a drug trafficking network, arresting 30-year-old Daniel Harrison Ugwuoke after discovering 43,980 tramadol capsules hidden in vehicle fuel tanks.Another operation led to the arrest of 45-year-old Nwabueze Felix Onyeka, a PhD student in Malaysia, who was found with 5.8 kilograms of cocaine concealed in cartons of Orijin Bitters.Investigators also arrested four suspects in Lagos during the investigation.In Kaduna State, 65-year-old Boniface Agu and 50-year-old Monday Nwaeze were arrested with 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine, while Francis Ifara Eja was apprehended with 231.7 kilograms of skunk.NDLEA emphasized its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, conducting awareness programs in schools and communities.
The agency praised officers in Taraba, Kaduna, Ebonyi, and Gombe for their successful operations and urged continued efforts to reduce drug supply and maintain public sensitization campaigns.
