The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued urgent warnings about rising flood risks across Pakistan due to persistent monsoon rains that are causing rivers and streams to overflow.

Medium-level flooding has been reported in key sections of the Chenab River, including Khanki, Qadirabad, and Chiniot Bridge, while flash flood threats loom over northern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan for the next 24-48 hours.Low-level flooding persists in the Indus River at Kalabagh, Chashma, and Taunsa, as well as in the Ravi and Kabul rivers.

NDMA has advised citizens to avoid flood-affected areas, cautioned against stopping near riverbanks or steep slopes, and urged motorists to check weather forecasts and road conditions before traveling.Urban flooding risks are also forecast for cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan.The authority emphasized maintaining emergency response readiness and restoring roads in case of closures.Landslides and sudden flash floods remain a major threat in mountainous regions during the monsoon season.
