New Jersey man faces charges after two-year-old overdoses on cocaine in his care

A two-year-old boy suffered a cocaine overdose while in the care of Alexander Moles, a 39-year-old man from Ringwood, New Jersey, according to prosecutors. The incident occurred on July 20 in North Wildwood, where Moles was vacationing with a woman and other children. When the woman returned from a shower, she found the boy unresponsive and called emergency services.

Firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a sick child, administering two doses of naloxone nasal spray (NARCAN) to reverse the overdose effects before transporting the child to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for further treatment.Preliminary blood tests confirmed the presence of cocaine in the boy’s system.

Moles was charged with child endangerment and possession of cocaine following a search of the rental property, where investigators found drug-related items including tinfoil packets labeled 'tapentadol hydrochloride' and a white powdery substance. He was detained at Cape May Correctional Facility but released after a detention hearing on July 24.

The case highlights concerns about child safety and illicit drug use in residential settings, raising questions about parental responsibility and the risks of substance exposure to minors.
