The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has released excess water from the Bustos Dam to support irrigation efforts in Bulacan and Pampanga provinces.This initiative aims to aid rice farmers by ensuring adequate water supply for their fields.The decision follows the dam's water level reaching 15.9 meters, which is above the normal threshold.

The released water will be distributed through canals to cover rice-growing areas in towns such as Baliuag, Guimba, and San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, as well as in Pampanga.The NIA's move is part of its broader strategy to manage water resources efficiently during the dry season.Officials emphasized that the irrigation plan will help mitigate potential crop losses and support food security.The provincial government has also expressed support for the initiative, highlighting its importance in sustaining agricultural productivity.This action underscores the government's commitment to addressing water scarcity issues and ensuring the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
