However, he cautioned against complacency, highlighting that sabotage remains a major cause of oil spills, accounting for up to 66% of incidents in 2024.

Timi called for integrating technology like AI, satellite imagery, and drone surveillance with community participation to secure energy infrastructure.

He also championed the Blue Economy, urging investment in maritime logistics, sustainable fisheries, and offshore renewables to reduce reliance on crude oil.

Stakeholders—government, private sector, communities, and NIM—must collaborate under a unified framework to ensure transparency, accountability, and execution of economic reforms.

The speech underscored the urgency of addressing multidimensional poverty in the region, with poverty rates exceeding 40% in several states, and stressed that real progress requires disciplined governance and strategic execution rather than policy alone.
