Prominent Nigerians, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Head of State Gen.Yakubu Gowon, state governors, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, gathered in Abuja for the first-anniversary remembrance of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The memorial ceremony at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Asokoro brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, diplomats, and family members of the late leader.

Buhari’s widow, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, and his children attended the event, alongside former cabinet members, lawmakers, diplomats, religious leaders, and retired military chiefs.The solemn programme featured prayers, tributes, and reflections on Buhari’s leadership and legacy.

A commemorative book titled 'Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari' was unveiled, containing messages from global leaders and notable personalities.Buhari, who died on July 13, 2025, at 82 after a prolonged illness in London, served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023.His remains were returned to Nigeria and buried in Daura, Katsina State, following Islamic rites.The event highlighted his impact on Nigerian politics and the nation’s collective memory of his presidency.
