The Northern Aqueduct, which supplies water to Durban Heights Water Treatment Works, will undergo a planned temporary shutdown from 1am on Tuesday, July 14, to 1am on Wednesday, July 15, to facilitate essential repairs on an 800 mm steel pipeline at Hippo Park Avenue (Point E).The shutdown is necessary to ensure safe repairs and will involve isolating the system to prevent disruptions.After the work is completed, engineers will inspect the system, conduct pressure tests, and gradually restore operations.Water supply will be reinstated as reservoirs refill and the distribution network stabilizes.

The shutdown will impact several reservoirs and areas, including Phoenix System, Mountview, Trenance, Aloes, Newlands, Umhlanga, Durban North, Northern Areas, and KwaMashu.Residents in these areas should prepare for potential water supply interruptions during the maintenance period.
