A Northern Cape man, Monapule Rantsi, has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s teenage daughter.The incident occurred on December 11, 2025, in Homestead, Kimberley, where Rantsi, then the victim’s mother’s boyfriend, touched the teenager’s buttocks while she was under blankets.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) stated that Rantsi’s criminal history, including previous convictions for escaping lawful custody, assault, and robbery, was considered during sentencing.

The court emphasized that the accused abused his position of trust within the household, noting that the sexual assault took place while Rantsi was on bail for a 2025 robbery case.
