NSW complete women’s State of Origin series sweep with 12–4 win over Queensland

New South Wales have secured a historic clean sweep in the women’s State of Origin series after defeating Queensland 12–4 in the final match on the Gold Coast.

The victory capped off a dominant series performance for the Blues, who were led by captain Isabelle Kelly and a standout display from lock Olivia Kernick.

Kernick produced an exceptional performance, running for 211 metres and completing 31 tackles, helping NSW control the middle of the field throughout the contest.

The match, played in front of 11,816 fans, was competitive and physical, with Queensland showing resilience despite missing key players including captain Tamika Upton, winger Julia Robinson and forward Makenzie Weale through injury.Early pressure from NSW saw them dominate possession and territory, but Queensland defended strongly and forced errors to stay in the contest.Key moments included a try-saving effort from Jasmine Peters and a heavy defensive hit from Chantay Kiria-Ratu, which lifted the Maroons.NSW struck first through Isabelle Kelly after a well-constructed backline play orchestrated by half Jesse Southwell.

Queensland responded with a try finished by Peters following sharp attacking movement involving Kiria-Ratu and debutant fullback Destiny Mino-Sinapati.

However, NSW regained control in the second half, with Southwell adding a penalty goal before Kelly’s involvement in a decisive try assist to Jayme Fressard helped extend the lead. The result completed a 3–0 series win for NSW, improving on last year’s near miss when Queensland denied them a clean sweep in the final game.

The Blues now join elite NSW men’s teams that have achieved series whitewashes in past eras, marking a significant milestone in the women’s competition since its inception in 2018.
