Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has officially ruled out his gubernatorial ambitions for Lagos State, stating his focus is now on mentoring young Nigerians.

In an interview with the 'Mic On podcast', Obanikoro, who previously contested against the Bola Tinubu political structure, explained that at 66 years old, his priority is to guide the next generation.He highlighted the collapse of family structures and reversed value systems in Nigeria, urging elders to mentor youth to ensure a stable future.While he has no regrets about his past political fight, he acknowledged the need for patience as the younger generation inherits the country.

Obanikoro's decision comes after he was appointed Director-General of Obafemi Hamzat's campaign for the 2027 Lagos State election, showing his continued influence in Nigerian politics despite stepping back from active gubernatorial pursuits.
