Ogun State Government don announce plans to present new bill for the State House of Assembly wey go make the law strong and put heavier penalties for anybody wey dey vandalise public infrastructure.
Governor Dapo Abiodun yarn say he dey very worried about how vandals dey destroy electricity facilities, wey dey affect business growth and service delivery for the state.
He mention say streetlights along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway don suffer plenty damage within one and a half years, as vandals dey chop cables, fittings, and even poles.Governor Abiodun call this kind behaviour economic sabotage and energy theft, and warn say anybody wey catch dey do am go face proper legal wahala.
The proposed legislation, wey the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice dey lead, go give the government strong legal power to prosecute vandals and discourage others.The governor also talk say him administration go continue to improve electricity supply through partnerships with private sector like IBEDC.
During the visit, IBEDC Managing Director, Mr Deolu Ijose, confirm say dem wan work closer with Ogun State Government to reduce power outages, upgrade infrastructure, and improve service delivery.
Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SIFAX Group, commended the governor for achievements in infrastructure and energy, and said dem dey ready to collaborate with the state.Overall, the move dey aimed at improving stable electricity access, supporting economic growth, and making life better for residents.
