The Office of the Ombudsman has directed Leyte Representative and former Speaker Martin Romualdez to respond to allegations of plunder, graft, and direct bribery linked to flood control projects.

Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano confirmed that Romualdez must file a counter-affidavit within 15 days, following the submission of all parties' responses.This comes after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

, Romualdez's cousin, announced plans to file multiple criminal cases against him over his alleged involvement in the flood control controversies.Other respondents include legal professionals and business entities tied to the projects.Romualdez maintains his innocence, emphasizing adherence to due process and readiness to prove his case.
