Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has urged government officials to avoid conflicts of interest by clearly separating their roles in business and politics.

During a radio program, Remulla emphasized that public servants must choose between engaging in business activities or political affairs, as both can create ethical dilemmas.

He highlighted that the practice of officials acting as government contractors is not limited to party-list representatives, as some district congressmen also participate in such activities.

Remulla revealed that investigations are ongoing into two lawmakers, Uswag Ilonggo party-list Representative Jojo Ang and Tarlac Third District Representative Noel Rivera, for alleged graft related to their ties with construction businesses.Additionally, at least eight contractors are under scrutiny for their involvement in the flood control projects scandal.The ombudsman stressed the need for decency and transparency in public service, urging officials to prioritize ethical standards over personal gain.His comments come amid broader efforts to address corruption and ensure accountability in government operations.
